Canon Error P08: Printer error (ink system)
Also shows as: Support codes 5200, 5205, 5206; ON and Alarm lamps flash alternately 8 times on PIXMA G1010 series
On PIXMA G2010-family models, P08 corresponds to support codes 5200 / 5205 / 5206, all described as "Printer error has occurred."
What to try
- Follow Canon's steps for 5200: on ink-tank models, check and refill ink first.
- Turn the printer off, unplug it, plug it back in and turn it on.
- Run print head Cleaning, then Ink Flush (G3010-type models).
- If it persists, contact a Canon service center.
When it needs a technician
If it persists after Canon's steps, Canon says to request a repair.
Which models show P08
Canon documents this code for models including PIXMA G2010 series, PIXMA TS3100 series, PIXMA E3100 series, PIXMA G3010 series.
Varies by model: On the TS3100 / E3100 series, P08 is grouped with general printer errors (power-cycle, then service) rather than the 5200 group.
First steps for any printer error
- Write down the exact code before you do anything else β similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
- Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
- Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
- Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
- Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
- Check your modelβs own manual β codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
