Canon Support Code 2114: Paper settings do not match the rear tray
Also shows as: E59 (LCD code on some display-less TS / E models)
The paper size or type set in the printer driver (or for copying) does not match the paper registered for the rear tray on the printer.
What to try
- Press the printer's Stop button to cancel printing (or press OK on LCD models to see the options).
- Check that the paper loaded in the rear tray matches the paper size registered in the printer.
- Check the paper settings in the printer driver, then retry printing.
- If the loaded paper is larger than the size set in the driver, Canon says you can press OK and continue without changing settings.
When it needs a technician
Not a repair issue. Canon notes you can turn off this mismatch check in the printer's operation mode settings.

First steps for any printer error
- Write down the exact code before you do anything else — similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
- Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
- Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
- Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
- Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
- Check your model’s own manual — codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
