Canon Support Code 1300: Paper jam (rear tray / output slot)

Also shows as: E03 (LCD code on some display-less models); alarm lamp flashes 3 times (PIXMA G1010 series)

✅ Usually fixable yourself

Paper has jammed while feeding from the rear tray or in the paper output slot. On models with a cassette, other codes cover jams in other places.

What to try

  1. If you need to turn the printer off to clear the jam, press Stop first to stop printing.
  2. Slowly pull the paper out of the paper output slot or the rear tray, whichever is easier. Hold it with both hands so it does not tear.
  3. If you cannot pull it out, turn the printer back on without forcing it. The paper may be ejected automatically.
  4. If the paper tears and you cannot remove it from the slot or tray, follow Canon's "Paper Is Jammed inside Printer" steps for your model.
  5. Reload paper and press the printer's OK button (or Black/Color on some models) to resume. Reprint the page if it did not print properly.
  6. When reloading, make sure you are using suitable paper and loading it correctly. Canon notes that A5 paper may curl and jam.

When it needs a technician

If the measures above do not solve it, Canon says to contact a Canon service center to request a repair.

Which models show 1300

Canon documents this code for models including PIXMA TS3300 series, PIXMA TS3100 series, PIXMA G3010 series, PIXMA G2010 series, PIXMA TS6300 series, PIXMA MG3600 series.

Varies by model: The jam location differs by model. On G3010 it is the "paper output slot or rear tray"; on TS3300 it is "when feeding paper from rear tray".

First steps for any printer error

  1. Write down the exact code before you do anything else — similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
  2. Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
  3. Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
  4. Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
  5. Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
  6. Check your model’s own manual — codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
