Canon Support Code B203: Error that needs a Canon repair
Also shows as: B202, B205 (same instructions); P10 on the LCD / alarm-lamp display of some models
Canon's manual says support code B203 means "An error requiring a repair has occurred." There is no fix you can do at home. Canon's only instructions are to switch the printer off, unplug it and contact a service center.
What to try
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the printer from the power outlet.
- Contact your nearest Canon service center to request a repair.
- On ink-tank (G-series) models, do not tilt the printer if you move it. Canon warns that ink may leak.
When it needs a technician
Always. Canon gives no user fix for this code and says to request a repair.
Which models show B203
Canon documents this code for models including PIXMA TS3300 series, PIXMA TS3100 series, PIXMA G3010 series, PIXMA G2010 series, PIXMA MG3600 series, PIXMA TS5100 series.
First steps for any printer error
- Write down the exact code before you do anything else β similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
- Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
- Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
- Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
- Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
- Check your modelβs own manual β codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
