Canon Support Code 5B00: Ink absorber is full
Also shows as: 5B01 (and 5B12, 5B14 on some models); P07 on LCD; ON/Alarm lamps flash alternately 7 times on PIXMA G1010 series
Canon says the ink absorber is full. Ink used during cleaning and other processes is captured in the ink absorber, and the printer cannot print until the absorber is replaced. (Older manuals word this only as "Printer error has occurred. Contact your nearest Canon service center.")
What to try
- If you need to print or copy, Canon says the ink absorber must be replaced.
- Contact Canon (or your nearest Canon service center) for repair as soon as possible.
When it needs a technician
Always. Canon gives no home fix for a full absorber.

First steps for any printer error
- Write down the exact code before you do anything else β similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
- Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
- Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
- Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
- Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
- Check your modelβs own manual β codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
