Canon Support Code 5700: Printer error (Canon gives no specific cause)
Also shows as: Alarm/ON lamps flash alternately 5 times (PIXMA G1010 series)
Canon's manual lists the cause of support code 5700 only as "Printer error has occurred." It does not say which part has failed. Canon's fix is a full power reset, and a repair if the code keeps coming back.
What to try
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Plug the printer in again and turn it back on.
- If the code comes back, contact your nearest Canon service center to request a repair.
- On models with fax: Canon warns that unplugging deletes any faxes stored in the printer's memory, so print or forward them first if you can.
When it needs a technician
If the code is still there after you unplug the printer and plug it back in, Canon says to contact a Canon service center for a repair. There is no further home fix in Canon's manual.
Which models show 5700
Canon documents this code for models including PIXMA G3010 series, PIXMA G2010 series, PIXMA TS6300 series, PIXMA TS5100 series, PIXMA G6000 series, PIXMA TR8500 series.
First steps for any printer error
- Write down the exact code before you do anything else β similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
- Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
- Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
- Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
- Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
- Check your modelβs own manual β codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
