Canon Support Code 1310: Paper size not suited to automatic duplex

✅ Usually fixable yourself

The loaded paper size may not be compatible with automatic two-sided printing.

What to try

  1. Use a paper size that supports auto duplex (Canon lists A4, Letter, A5 and B5 for many models).
  2. Make sure the paper loaded matches the paper size in your print settings.
  3. Remove the paper being printed, load paper of a supported size, and press the OK button.
  4. Printing resumes from the next sheet; the page where the error occurred and its back are not printed.
  5. To cancel printing, press the Stop button.

When it needs a technician

Rarely. Canon lists no repair step for this code. If it keeps coming back after the steps above, contact Canon support.

First steps for any printer error

  1. Write down the exact code before you do anything else — similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
  2. Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
  3. Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
  4. Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
  5. Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
  6. Check your model’s own manual — codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
