Canon Support Code 1304: Paper jam during automatic duplex printing
Paper jammed while the printer was printing on both sides automatically.
What to try
- Remove paper visible at the paper output slot as for code 1300.
- If paper is inside the printer, follow Canon's steps for paper jammed inside the printer.
- Check the cassette feed slot and remove any paper slowly with both hands without tilting the printer.
- If none of these apply, open the rear cover and remove the paper from the rear side.
- Reload paper properly, press OK, and reprint any page that did not print.
When it needs a technician
If the steps above do not clear it, Canon says to contact your nearest Canon service center to request a repair.

First steps for any printer error
- Write down the exact code before you do anything else β similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
- Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
- Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
- Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
- Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
- Check your modelβs own manual β codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
