Canon Support Code 1405: Print head may be damaged

🧭 Fixable with care

Canon says the print head may be damaged.

What to try

  1. Turn the printer off and turn it back on.
  2. If this does not solve it, contact your nearest Canon service center to request a repair.

When it needs a technician

If a restart does not clear it, Canon says the printer needs repair (on the PRO-100S Canon says to contact the service center straight away).

Which models show 1405

Canon documents this code for models including PIXMA TS6300 series, PIXMA TR8500 series, PIXMA TS8300 series, PIXMA TS9500 series, PIXMA PRO-100S series, GX6000 series.

First steps for any printer error

  1. Write down the exact code before you do anything else β€” similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
  2. Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
  3. Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
  4. Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
  5. Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
  6. Check your model’s own manual β€” codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
