HP Error 13: 13.XX paper jam

There is a paper jam. HP says that in most cases the printer failed to pick and feed the sheet, sometimes called a no-pick, phantom or false jam.
What to try
- Check for jammed paper and remove it.
- Set the tray width and length guides exactly to the paper size loaded, lining up the arrow with the size mark.
- Do not load damaged paper (bent, torn, dusty, wrinkled or curled) or paper outside the specifications.
- Flex a new ream of paper in both directions before loading it.
- Load the stack from back to front, do not overfill the tray past the fill mark, and gently reinstall the tray.
When it needs a technician
If jams continue after the tray is loaded correctly, HP says to contact HP Support.

HP documents this code for models including HP LaserJet Pro M701/M706, HP LaserJet P2050 series, HP LaserJet P3010 series.
Varies by model: The digits after 13 identify the jam location and differ by model. On LaserJet Enterprise models HP publishes separate articles for codes such as 13.A1, 13.A2 and 13.B2, and notes on the P3010 series that a jam message that stays after clearing paper may mean a stuck or broken sensor.
First steps for any printer error
- Write down the exact code before you do anything else — similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
- Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
- Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
- Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
- Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
- Check your model’s own manual — codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
