HP Error 0x6100000B: Carriage jam or printer too cold
On OfficeJet 4610 and 4620 series printers, 0x6100000B can show with a Carriage Jam message: the carriage that holds the cartridges has stalled, often after a paper jam.
What to try
- Turn the printer off, wait 60 seconds, turn it on, and print a Printer Status Report.
- Unplug the printer, then clear paper from the cartridge access area, the cleanout door and underneath the printer, using a flashlight to find torn bits.
- Remove and reinsert the cartridges.
- Check that the posts in the cartridge parking area are not blocking the carriage.
- Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet and do a power reset.
When it needs a technician
If the test page still will not print after all steps, HP says to service or replace the printer.

First steps for any printer error
- Write down the exact code before you do anything else β similar-looking codes often mean completely different things.
- Power the printer off, unplug it for a couple of minutes, then power it back on. A surprising number of transient errors clear here.
- Open the covers and check for paper scraps, packaging material, or anything blocking the carriage.
- Check the cartridges or tanks are genuine, correctly seated, and not empty.
- Confirm the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or extension lead.
- Check your modelβs own manual β codes are model-specific, and the manual is the authority for your machine.
