Mac Screenshots

Command + Shift + 3 captures the entire screen. Command + Shift + 4 lets you select an area. Command + Shift + 4 then Space captures a specific window. Command + Shift + 5 opens the screenshot toolbar with options for screen recording too. All screenshots save to the desktop by default.

Windows Screenshots

Windows + Shift + S opens the Snipping Tool to select an area (saves to clipboard). Windows + Print Screen captures the full screen and saves to Pictures and Screenshots folder. Alt + Print Screen captures only the active window. The Snipping Tool app offers timed screenshots and annotation.

Mobile Screenshots

iPhone: press Side button + Volume Up simultaneously. Android: press Power + Volume Down simultaneously. Both save to your Photos app. On newer iPhones you can also tap the back of the phone twice if Back Tap is enabled in Accessibility settings.

Pro Tips

On Mac, hold Control while screenshotting to copy to clipboard instead of saving a file
Windows Snipping Tool has a delay option for capturing menus
Screenshots are saved as PNG files which can be large, convert to JPG to save space
Most browsers have built-in screenshot tools now via right-click
