Daikin E7 Error Code: Outdoor DC fan lock

Updated October 2026 Β· Sourced from Daikin documentation

🧭 Check a few things first

The outdoor fan does not start within 15 to 30 seconds even though the fan motor is running. If the error repeats, the system is shut down. The manual lists foreign matter stuck in the fan, a defective fan motor or a defective outdoor board.

Is it safe to keep running? Check the steps below first. If the fan is clear and the code returns, a technician should check the fan motor and outdoor board.

Check this first

Only steps a homeowner can do safely. Do not open electrical panels or the burner area.

  1. With the power off at the breaker, look at the outdoor fan from outside the unit for leaves, debris or ice. Do not reach into the unit.
  2. Switch the unit off at the breaker, wait a minute, then switch it back on and see whether the code returns.

  • If the fan is clear and the code returns, a technician should check the fan motor and outdoor board.
  • Any code pointing to refrigerant, the compressor, high pressure or the outdoor unit board. Refrigerant work legally needs a certified technician.
  • Burning smell, sparks, or a breaker that trips again after a reset.
  • Water leaking from the indoor unit that does not stop after the drain is clear.

Safe first steps for any Daikin code

  1. Write down the exact code and how it shows (remote display or number of lamp blinks). Similar codes mean different things on different series.
  2. Turn the system off at the remote, switch off the breaker or disconnect for the unit, wait a few minutes, then turn it back on.
  3. Clean or replace the indoor unit air filters, and make sure nothing blocks the indoor or outdoor unit.
  4. Check that the condensate drain line is not blocked or kinked where you can see it.
  5. Replace the remote controller batteries if the display is dim or the unit does not respond.
