1. Method 1: Setup Wizard (Touch Screen Models)2. Method 2: WPS Push Button (No Screen Models)3. Method 3: USB Setup Then Switch to WiFi4. Troubleshooting Connection Failures

Method 1: Setup Wizard (Touch Screen Models)

On Brother printers with a touch screen, tap the WiFi icon or go to Settings, All Settings, Network, WLAN, Setup Wizard. The printer scans for available networks. Select yours and enter the WiFi password carefully using the on-screen keyboard. Press OK and wait for the Connection Successful message. Then install the Brother driver on your computer from support.brother.com.

Method 2: WPS Push Button (No Screen Models)

If your Brother printer has no screen, use WPS. Press and hold the WiFi button on the printer for about 2 seconds until the WiFi light starts flashing. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router. The printer and router will connect automatically. The WiFi light stops flashing and stays solid when connected. This method requires your router to support WPS, which most modern routers do.

Method 3: USB Setup Then Switch to WiFi

If wireless setup fails, connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable first. Install the full driver from support.brother.com. During installation, the setup wizard will ask how you want to connect. Choose WiFi and follow the prompts. The installer configures the WiFi settings through the USB connection, which is more reliable than doing it from the printer panel. After setup, disconnect the USB cable.

Troubleshooting Connection Failures

If the printer fails to connect, check these common issues. Brother printers only support 2.4GHz WiFi, not 5GHz. Make sure your router broadcasts a 2.4GHz network. The WiFi password is case-sensitive, so double-check capital letters. If your router uses WPA3 security, switch it to WPA2 as some older Brother models do not support WPA3. Also verify the printer is within range of the router, ideally in the same room for initial setup.

Pro Tips

โœ“Print a network config page by holding the Go button for 10 seconds to see connection status
โœ“Brother printers only work on 2.4GHz WiFi, not 5GHz bands
โœ“Update firmware after connecting to prevent future connection drops
โœ“The Brother iPrint&Scan mobile app can also help configure WiFi settings
