Outlook keeps popping up asking for my password every few minutes even though I enter the correct one. It never stops.
The endless password prompt in Outlook is one of the most common and annoying email issues. It is usually caused by cached credentials that have gone stale. First, close Outlook completely. Open Control Panel (not Settings), search for Credential Manager, click Windows Credentials, and look for any entries that mention Outlook, Microsoft, Office, or your email domain. Remove all of them. This forces Outlook to ask for fresh credentials on next launch. Also open Credential Manager, Web Credentials, and remove any Microsoft or Office entries there too. Now reopen Outlook — it will ask for your password one more time. Enter it and make sure you check Remember My Credentials. If the problem persists, the issue is likely related to Modern Authentication. Go to File, Office Account, and update Office to the latest version. Then open the Registry Editor (type regedit in Start), navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity, and create or set a DWORD value called EnableADAL with the value 1. This enables Modern Authentication. Restart Outlook and sign in again.
